Nothing like a burger and some chips - but we've got all kinds of twists on the traditional you can try on your next trip to Buy Better Foods.
This week your favorite Bed-Stuy black, LGBTQ woman-owned natural organic market featured Somos' "Unusually thick and crunchy tortilla chips" and Good Catch's plant-based salmon burgers as Buy Better Foods' items of the week.
Nixtamalization is the secret to crafting this "unusually thick and crunchy" tortilla chip. It's an alkaline "lime-bath" for the corn seeds that results in a uniquely textured chip. And of course, they're plant-based, gluten free and non GMO. Some have said, "it's like your favorite tortilla chip, but beefier." I say, it's well worth the culinary adventure. Try it with their tasty salsa sauce for the complete experience.
Good Catch Plant-based Salmon burgers
So, I have to admit, I'm new to the Good Catch brand. But usually whenever I see a plant-based seafood equivalent in the grocery aisle its usually seasoned jackfruit.
Not these salmon burgers. Good Catch uses a blend of plant-based proteins that somehow give the flavor and flakiness of real salmon. We had them for dinner the other day. Put some Old Bay seasoning on them and trust me, you'll fool all your dinner guests!
